This is a serious enough notice for anyone who boats through the Fire Island inlet, and of course those who have frequented this inlet over the years will say "this is to be expected after a windy winter." Keep in mind, safe navigation is paramount especially on the first time through the inlet where your own course over ground track should be made on your GPS chart plotter. A word to the wise since this problem of continual sanding of the Fire Island inlet means YOU have to do your own homework in scoping out where the safest water depths can be found, especially on low tide....
